Celanese Corporation has announced a collaboration with SharpCell Oy to integrate carbon capture and utilization technology into its vinyl acetate ethylene binders. This initiative aims to reduce the carbon footprint of nonwoven materials used in hygiene products and wipes. The partnership expects to utilize over 400 metric tons of captured CO2 annually through mass-balance accounting. This move signals a shift toward incorporating low-carbon inputs into high-volume industrial chemical portfolios.
