CDR.fyi released a new market analysis mapping 40 certified durable carbon removal projects in the United States. As of June 2026, these projects have issued roughly 850,000 tonnes of net CO2e removals through Puro.earth and Isometric. The analysis focuses only on projects with independently verified credits, excluding those still under construction or uncertified. Biochar dominates the certified landscape, accounting for 24 of the 40 projects. Other pathways include enhanced weathering, biomass direct storage, biomass geological sequestration, alkalinity enhancement, and BECCS. Projects are spread across 22 states rather than concentrated in a few hubs, with California leading at 5 projects, followed by Oregon, Colorado, and Georgia. Most certified deployments remain small but are reaching early commercial scale. The analysis notes these projects tend to locate in smaller communities rather than urban centers, which could drive rural economic development. The full report is available on CDR.fyi's blog.
