Castlecroft Group cuts energy costs with rooftop solar and battery storage under HDM Energies PPA
scottishconstructionnow.comCastlecroft Group installed an 89.28kW rooftop solar system at its King James VI Business Centre in Perth, using a Power Purchase Agreement from HDM Energies and Paragon Bank. The 144 panels are expected to generate more than 70,000kWh a year, covering around 32% of the building's electricity demand. Castlecroft forecasts first year energy savings of £4,500 and more than £139,000 over the 12 year agreement, with carbon emissions cut by about 10 tonnes annually. A 100kWh battery is planned to increase on site consumption. The PPA model means Castlecroft avoids upfront capital costs, while HDM owns and maintains the system and charges a fixed rate of 15p per kWh. More than 100 UK organisations have signed up through the same funding structure, with projected savings of £58 million across the programme.
