Cascades, a North American packaging and recycling company, has received SBTi approval for its new 2035 greenhouse gas targets. The plan calls for a 67.2% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 41.3% reduction in selected Scope 3 categories, both measured against a 2019 baseline. The company reports it has already cut Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 32.6% between 2019 and 2025. The targets are part of Cascades' fifth sustainability plan. In 2025, Cascades says its emissions were 25% lower than the North American paper industry average. To meet the 2035 goal, the company plans to keep working on energy efficiency, electrify some equipment, and find new renewable electricity supply. The approval gives outside validation to a target that was already backed by several years of measured progress.
