Carbon180 has published a policy roadmap called Restoring Carbon for Healthy Agricultural Lands. It focuses on how the U.S. federal government can help scale carbon dioxide removal on farms and ranches. The recommendations cover infrastructure, land access, technical assistance, incentives, and monitoring. The group says removing 30 million metric tons of CO2 per year by 2030 is possible if policies align profitability with stewardship. Key proposals include a conservation pilot procurement program for crops grown with sequestration practices, a workforce program pairing new farmers with mentors, free nationwide soil health testing, and longer conservation contracts that match soil carbon timelines. The roadmap also includes Carbon180's soil carbon MMRV legislation to standardize measurement and build a soil inventory network. The roadmap builds on feedback from land stewards, scientists, and technical assistance providers. It is aimed at policymakers and anyone tracking agricultural CDR policy in the U.S.
