The Carbon Markets Africa Summit 2026, running October 13-15 in Kigali, will bring together 24 African countries and 45 countries globally. Organizers report more than 100 speakers, over 50 investors, buyers and financiers, and more than 40 project developers. The event is hosted by Rwanda's Ministry of Environment with UNDP and the African Development Bank as host organizations. A main theme is African ownership of carbon market development. Speakers from Nigeria and Climate Impact Partners argue that African policymakers and project developers should help shape market rules, not just participate. Dedicated investor roundtables and direct meetings are designed to connect capital providers with African projects in sectors like nature-based solutions, clean cooking, and carbon removals. The summit also follows the Article 6.4 Supervisory Body meeting in Bonn, so expect discussions on how global carbon credit rules affect African projects. The focus will be on partnerships and transactions that move projects forward, rather than broad ambition.
