Carbon Markets Africa Summit 2026: Africa moves from readiness to delivery in carbon markets
africa.comThe Carbon Markets Africa Summit (CMAS) 2026 has launched its official programme, signaling a shift for African carbon markets from policy readiness to actual project delivery and transactions. The summit takes place from 13 to 15 October 2026 in Kigali, Rwanda, hosted by Rwanda's Ministry of Environment with UNDP and the African Development Bank as host organisations. The programme covers the full carbon value chain, including Article 6 implementation, project development, finance, and deal structuring, with a focus on integrity and transaction readiness. Key features include curated project pipelines across nature-based solutions, regenerative agriculture, carbon removals, waste-to-value, and blue carbon, presented through investment-ready deal rooms. The summit also addresses critical bottlenecks like early-stage finance, MRV systems, and project bankability. With global demand from mechanisms like CORSIA accelerating, CMAS 2026 aims to connect credible African supply with capital and buyers, moving beyond frameworks into execution.
