Fire crews have contained 95 percent of the Carbon Fire in Orange County, California. The wildfire started on April 25 near Carbon Canyon Road and Olinda Road in Brea, burning a total of 209 acres over three days. Unified Command, including the Orange County Fire Authority and Brea Fire Department, managed the perimeter to halt the spread. The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation by Cal Fire.

Another 200 acre burn in OC. It is a small one compared to the monsters we see, but it shows how tight the window is for these fires now.
Did this trigger any Public Safety Power Shutoffs in the Brea area? Usually, these canyon fires make utilities nervous about transmission lines.
The containment percentage is a useful metric for the public, but it does not account for the actual carbon release from the soil and biomass. We need better reporting on the emissions side of these events.
