Carbon Fiber Recycling and James Cropper Advanced Materials have won the CAMX 2026 Unsurpassed Innovation Award for UNIMAT, a recycled carbon fiber material made from post-industrial waste. The award recognizes the circular supply chain that recovers fiber from prepregs and cured composites in Tennessee, then aligns it into a high-performance material for aerospace, automotive, and other structural applications. UNIMAT is compatible with resin transfer molding, stamping, and prepreg systems. The companies claim over 99% CO2 reduction versus virgin PAN carbon fiber production, at lower cost. This win signals that recycled carbon fiber is moving from novelty to a specification-grade input for demanding manufacturing, not just low-value uses like concrete crack control.
