Tampa-based Aptamus Carbon Solutions is planning a carbon dioxide terminal and marine transport system at Seaport Manatee to support a proposed biomethanol plant in Manatee County. The plant, developed by Demeter Energy, would convert Florida wood and green waste into about 100,000 metric tons of biomethanol annually while capturing roughly 200,000 metric tons of CO2. Aptamus will handle the CO2 handling, including a U.S.-built dual-cargo vessel capable of carrying both biomethanol and liquefied CO2 to Texas or Louisiana for storage or enhanced oil recovery. No timeline or cost was announced yet.
