Carbon capture plant plans submitted for Killingholme Low Carbon Power project
grimsbytelegraph.co.ukUniper has submitted a planning application to North Lincolnshire Council for a carbon capture plant at the Killingholme Low Carbon Power project. The capture unit would be built next to an already consented 550MW combined cycle gas turbine station and is designed to capture at least 95% of CO2 from power generation. A spur pipeline would connect the site to nearby CO2 transport and storage infrastructure, with captured CO2 sent to permanent offshore storage. Main construction for the CCGT is expected to start in late 2027. Uniper says the carbon capture plant could be installed alongside it, subject to permits and pipeline availability, with the combined project potentially delivering from 2030. The council will run its own consultation as part of the planning process, and Uniper says it will keep engaging with the local community.
