The first commercial scale carbon capture facility for cement is now operational in Norway, but global adoption remains slow. Current projections suggest that by 2035, carbon capture will address less than 2% of total cement industry emissions. Success for these projects depends heavily on government funding and shared CO2 transport infrastructure. While Asia is seeing an increase in project announcements, large scale operational plants remain concentrated in Europe.
