The global market for carbon capture and storage (CCS) in power generation is expanding as countries seek ways to decarbonize existing coal and natural gas plants. Current projections suggest significant growth driven by stricter emission regulations and government tax incentives for low-carbon technology. Implementation focuses on three main stages: capturing CO2 from combustion, transporting it via pipelines or ships, and storing it in underground geological formations. While post-combustion capture is the most common for retrofits, oxy-fuel combustion is emerging as a more efficient alternative for new installations.
