Captura to Supply Ocean-Captured CO2 for eSAF Plant in France
carbonherald.comCaptura will provide carbon dioxide feedstock for a new sustainable aviation fuel facility at the Port of Port-La-Nouvelle in southern France. The plant, led by SAF+ International Group, aims to produce 75,000 tonnes of electro-sustainable aviation fuel (eSAF) annually by combining green hydrogen with CO2 captured from the ocean. This project helps airlines comply with the European Union's RefuelEU regulations, which mandate increasing blends of sustainable fuels starting in 2025. The resulting eSAF is expected to reduce emissions by approximately 90% compared to traditional kerosene and meets existing aircraft certification standards.
