Canada is moving forward with the C$16.5 billion Pathways carbon capture project, aimed at reducing emissions from Alberta's oil sands. The federal government has reached an agreement on industrial carbon pricing to create the financial framework necessary for the project's deployment. The initiative involves five major oil companies transporting captured CO2 via pipeline to a storage hub in eastern Alberta. The plan targets a reduction of 16 million tonnes of annual emissions over two decades, with an initial goal of 6 million tonnes by 2035.
