Canada has unveiled a clean electricity strategy aiming to double the national power grid by 2050. The plan focuses on electrification to lower household energy costs and maintain economic competitiveness, utilizing a mix of hydro, nuclear, wind, solar, and geothermal energy. The strategy involves a massive infrastructure buildout with estimated costs between 730 billion and 1 trillion CAD. It also shifts policy by allowing a more flexible role for natural gas and carbon capture to ensure grid stability during the transition to net zero.
