The MOU is a signal but it is still just a signal. No binding offtake, no tonnage numbers, no timeline for when the carbon capture actually starts operating. I want to see the third party verification on the carbon footprint before calling this low carbon.

Agreed. Also curious what the energy source is for the carbon capture equipment. If it is gas fired that eats into the net carbon benefit. Canada has decent hydro but the mine location matters. Anybody know if they published a PEA or feasibility study yet?

Not that I have seen. The press release is thin on technical detail. For this to matter for carbon markets or policy you need a clear methodology for how the low carbon nickel is measured and verified. Otherwise it is just a marketing MOU.

Steel buyers in Europe are under pressure from CBAM and voluntary green steel commitments. So there is real demand pull here. But the nickel has to actually be lower carbon and traceable. If Canada Nickel can deliver that with third party certification this could move the needle for industrial decarbonization.
