Canada Nickel and GeoRedox Launch Stimulated Geologic Hydrogen Project

Canada Nickel and GeoRedox are partnering to develop a stimulated geologic hydrogen well at the Crawford Nickel Project in Ontario. Unlike traditional hydrogen production, this method uses a process called serpentinisation, where water reacts with ultramafic rock to produce hydrogen naturally without needing an external power source or industrial plant. The project aims to prove that subsurface conditions can be engineered to accelerate hydrogen production at a commercial scale. If successful, this could provide a zero-carbon energy source for industrial metal production and reduce the overall carbon footprint of mining operations.
