Canada and Alberta Agreement on Carbon Pricing and Grid Expansion

The deal sets a carbon price target of 130 dollars per tonne by 2040 and introduces a minimum floor price for TIER credits starting in 2030 to provide investor certainty. The agreement also focuses on doubling Alberta's grid by 2050 through investments in nuclear, wind, solar, and geothermal energy. It includes the issuance of 75 million tonnes of Carbon Contracts for Difference to support large scale emissions reduction projects.
