Canada and Alberta have signed an implementation agreement to stabilize carbon markets and accelerate decarbonization. The deal sets a carbon price target of 130 dollars per tonne by 2040 and introduces a minimum floor price for TIER credits starting in 2030 to provide investor certainty. The agreement also focuses on doubling Alberta's electricity grid by 2050 through wind, solar, nuclear, and geothermal energy. Additionally, the two governments will jointly issue 75 million tonnes of Carbon Contracts for Difference to support large scale emissions reduction projects.
