Calix partners with Ambuja Cements and East Asian firm for zero-capital carbon capture in cement production
theglobeandmail.comCalix Ltd. has announced two new partnerships for its Leilac carbon capture technology in the cement sector, both structured as capital-light deals. One agreement is with Adani Group's Ambuja Cements in India, where Calix will deploy its technology on a zero-capital basis. The second is a fully customer-funded project in East Asia targeting roughly 100,000 tonnes of CO2 capture and utilization per year. These deals aim to lower the financial barrier for carbon capture in heavy industry by shifting upfront costs to the customer. Calix is prioritizing revenue generation and cash management while pursuing long-term decarbonization. The cement sector is a major source of industrial CO2 emissions, and these partnerships could serve as a model for scaling capture technology without heavy capital expenditure from the technology provider.
