Cabot develops certified carbon footprint tool for carbon black, reports progress on 2030 sustainability goals
european-rubber-journal.comCabot Corp. has completed a life cycle assessment methodology for furnace carbon black in collaboration with the International Carbon Black Association. The company plans to build a certified tool to calculate product carbon footprints across its portfolio, aiming to improve transparency and accuracy in emissions reporting. The carbon black producer met 14 of its 15 sustainability goals for 2025, with 11 achieved ahead of schedule. It also reduced non-hazardous landfill waste globally by 70% between 2024 and 2025, partly by finding a reuse route for synthetic gypsum from its Louisiana facility. Cabot's sustainability chief said the company is making measurable progress toward 2030 targets through initiatives that reduce environmental footprint and strengthen value chain performance. The certified carbon footprint tool is expected to support customer decarbonization efforts as well.
