BYD is ramping up its overseas push with a broad lineup of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. The company sold over 160,000 vehicles overseas in May 2026, a record month, and registered more than 26,000 in Europe alone, up 158% from a year earlier. In the UK, BYD has become the best-selling EV brand, surpassing Tesla and Kia. At the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed, BYD plans to showcase eight new vehicles across three brands: its mainstream BYD brand, the luxury Denza line, and the high-tech Yangwang marque. Highlights include the Denza Z Coupe electric hypercar with over 1,000 hp, the Shark plug-in pickup, and the Dolphin G DM-i hybrid supermini designed for Europe. The company also recently launched the Great Tang electric SUV in China and confirmed plans to bring it to Europe. This expansion signals that BYD is moving beyond just affordable EVs and is now competing across segments from luxury sedans to work trucks. The shift could accelerate EV adoption in markets where pickup trucks and premium vehicles have been slow to electrify.
