Butler students ride IndyGo bus to Glendale Town Center in fare-free sustainability event
thebutlercollegian.comButler University's Office of Sustainability, Founder's College, Student Government Association, and IndyGo teamed up for 'Dawgs on the Bus,' a fare-free bus ride to Glendale Town Center on Oct. 3. The event aimed to teach students how to navigate Indianapolis transit and reduce carbon emissions by offering an alternative to individual car trips. According to a survey of attendees, 79% had never ridden an IndyGo bus before. Comfort with riding independently rose from 2.44 to 3.83 on a five-point scale after the event. Organizers plan to make the program a recurring series with different destinations. The initiative highlights how transit education can improve access to off-campus locations while supporting climate goals. For Butler students, the bus becomes a practical option rather than a last resort.
