Importers of high-carbon goods into the EU now need independent checks on reported emissions, and this accreditation lets Bureau Veritas provide that service across borders. CBAM verification builds on the company's existing work under the EU Emissions Trading System and its ISO 14064 and ISO 14067 greenhouse gas validation services. So this is less about starting from scratch and more about extending an established verification portfolio into a new regulatory scheme. In practice, importers of steel, cement, aluminium, fertilisers, electricity or hydrogen into the EU will be looking for accredited verifiers ahead of the next compliance phase.
