Burckhardt Compression to supply hydrogen-ready compressors for MTU gas turbine test facility in Germany

Burckhardt Compression has won an order to supply two high-speed compressor systems for MTU Maintenance Berlin-Brandenburg's gas turbine test facility in Ludwigsfelde, Germany. The facility supports maintenance, repair, and overhaul work on industrial gas turbines. It currently runs on natural gas and is being prepared to handle blends with up to 25% hydrogen. The project matters because gas turbines increasingly serve as flexible backup for renewable power in Europe. Reliable MRO testing helps keep those turbines available, and hydrogen-ready compression is one step toward lowering their carbon footprint. The order also shows how equipment suppliers are adapting existing industrial products for lower-carbon fuel mixes rather than waiting for entirely new turbine models.
