Burbank Water and Power has completed a 17 million dollar solar and battery storage installation at the Regional Intermodal Transportation Center. The project uses 4,260 American-made panels across 174,000 square feet of parking structure to provide 2 megawatts of zero-carbon power. The system includes battery storage to manage peak demand and reduce reliance on external transmission infrastructure. This project is part of the city's broader strategy to reach 100 percent zero-carbon energy by 2040.
