Burbank Water and Power has completed a 2 megawatt solar installation paired with an 8 megawatt-hour battery storage system at the Regional Intermodal Transportation Center. The project utilizes 4 acres of rooftop space to generate clean energy for approximately 585 homes. The 17 million dollar system is designed to store excess solar power and discharge it during peak demand periods. This infrastructure helps the city reduce its reliance on external transmission lines and supports its goal of reaching zero-carbon energy by 2040.
