Budget 2027 keeps SEAI retrofit funding at a record EUR 654.5 million even as the carbon tax on kerosene and natural gas is cut to EUR 48.50 per tonne. Taoiseach Micheal Martin said the Government is still driving ahead with retrofitting and pointed to 290,000 households upgraded over the past five years. The carbon tax freeze means less ringfenced revenue than originally planned, but Martin said SEAI grants will not be reduced. Homeowners can now get support for windows, doors, and solar batteries. The State still needs to retrofit roughly 210,000 more homes by 2030 to hit its BER B2 target.
