The mention of Simpler Recycling legislation is the key here. Standardizing these collections is the only way to get the scale needed for anaerobic digestion to actually move the needle on emissions.
True, but the energy output is tiny. They use a kettle analogy to make 10 tonnes a week sound impressive, but in terms of actual grid capacity, it is a drop in the bucket. I wonder what the actual MWh contribution is.
Good to see flats getting included. Usually, communal bins are where recycling goes to die because there is no accountability. If Veolia can actually maintain the stream quality, it is a win.
The real hurdle is the logistics of communal collections in high density areas. If the bins overflow or smell, people stop using them immediately. Maintenance is everything for these programs.
