BTG Pactual Timberland Investment Group has closed a $1.24 billion fund focused on reforestation and ecosystem restoration in Latin America. The strategy targets 660,000 acres of degraded land, splitting the area between FSC-certified commercial timber and native forest conservation, with a heavy focus on Brazil's Cerrado region. The fund aims to produce millions of high-integrity carbon removal credits. It has already issued credits under Verra's VM0047 methodology and secured two major carbon removal agreements, supported by a diverse group of institutional investors including the IFC and GenZero.
