BT Climate Transition Plan Progress: 61% Emissions Cut, £6.5bn Revenue from Carbon-Saving Products
sustainabilitymag.comBT has reported a 61% reduction in operational emissions since 2017 and a 33% cut in supply chain emissions in its FY26 sustainability results. The company aims for net zero operations by 2031 and full value chain net zero by 2041, with targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative. Energy consumption dropped 9% year on year, and long-term PPAs now cover 34% of BT's UK electricity demand. BT's electric vehicle fleet has grown to 7,900 vehicles, representing 29% of its total fleet. The company also collected nearly 136,000 mobile devices for reuse or recycling and used 95% recycled plastic in its newest router casing. Carbon-saving products generated £6.5 billion in revenue during FY26, and BT's networks have helped customers avoid over 10 million tonnes of carbon since 2021. The company is also investing in biodiversity partnerships with The Wildlife Trust and RSPB.
