Bronx River Parkway Bicycle Sundays: Reducing Emissions Through Car-Free Zones

The Bronx River Parkway has restarted its seasonal Bicycle Sundays program. By closing sections of the parkway to vehicle traffic on select Sundays, the initiative aims to lower carbon emissions and encourage residents to use sustainable transport options like cycling and walking. Managed by the Westchester Parks Foundation, the program runs for over 12 Sundays a year. It provides a dedicated space for outdoor activity and environmental awareness, shifting road usage from cars to pedestrians during specific morning and afternoon windows.
