British Airways has extended its Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) supply agreement with Hong Kong based EcoCeres through 2030. The deal covers fuel made from 100% waste feedstocks like used cooking oil. EcoCeres says its SAF can cut lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by up to 94.4% compared to fossil jet fuel. Under the renewed contract, British Airways expects to avoid roughly 198,000 tonnes of CO2 over the fuel's lifecycle. That is equivalent to the emissions from about 341,000 economy seats on round trips between London and New York. The SAF is fully drop in, meaning it works with existing aircraft and airport infrastructure without modifications. The extension signals growing long term offtake commitments in the aviation sector as airlines look to meet emissions targets. EcoCeres CEO Matti Lievonen said the partnership shows shared commitment to scaling waste based SAF. The deal gives both sides more visibility on supply and demand through the end of the decade.
