Bristol Airport renews Level 4+ carbon accreditation as 2030 net zero operations target continues
exmouthjournal.co.ukBristol Airport has renewed its Level 4+ Airport Carbon Accreditation, a recognition for cutting emissions from its own operations and working with partners on wider value chain emissions. The airport says it remains focused on net zero operations by 2030 and recently took delivery of a new energy centre as part of its decarbonisation plan. Accreditation details: Bristol became the first UK regional airport to reach Level 4+ in 2023. The airport is also running its Aviation Carbon Transition (ACT) Programme, which targets Scope 3 emissions linked to flights and transport. A £400 million upgrade includes a £60 million public transport interchange. Context: Bristol Airport handled more than 10.8 million passengers in the past 12 months and employs about 5,800 people on site. The 2030 goal covers airport operations, while indirect emissions and zero-emission flight development remain longer-term challenges.
