Braskem has launched the Blooming Future, a new LR1 tanker that will primarily transport naphtha for its petrochemical operations. The vessel is designed to cut CO2 emissions by about 30% compared to the company's current ships, saving roughly 6,500 tonnes per year. It features engines ready for biofuel use and systems to improve energy efficiency, showing how maritime logistics can lower its carbon footprint. The tanker is part of Braskem Trading and Shipping's expansion plan to have four LR1 tankers in service by early 2027. By optimizing speed and using cleaner technology, Braskem aims to reduce fuel consumption and emissions while maintaining safe and reliable transport of key feedstocks. This move highlights the growing focus on decarbonizing the shipping sector, which is a major source of global emissions.
