Braskem is introducing new sugarcane-derived polyethylene grades for the food contact and healthcare sectors. These bio-based plastics are designed as drop-in replacements for traditional resins, meaning they work with existing manufacturing equipment while reducing reliance on fossil fuels. A key highlight is the Medcol V7040 grade for medical use, which reports a negative cradle-to-gate carbon footprint of -2.27 kg CO2e per kg. This approach focuses on scalable, recyclable materials to lower the overall emissions of the packaging value chain.
