Braemar, a global shipbroker, has joined the Sustainable Shipping Initiative (SSI) to help develop commercial and financial mechanisms for shipping decarbonization. The company will contribute market intelligence from its sale and purchase, tanker, dry bulk, gas, and offshore markets to SSI's Commercial Pathways to Transition workstream. Braemar also offers a Shipping Carbon Intelligence Tool that provides vessel-level carbon exposure data for commercial and investment decisions. SSI CEO Ellie Besley-Gould said brokers are central to shipping deals, and Braemar's membership signals the commercial intermediary community is moving from analysis to action. This membership expands SSI's industry collaboration as it promotes commercially viable pathways for maritime decarbonization. Braemar's Joey Ng noted that the decision to transition to alternative fuels remains a key risk for clients, and navigating this complexity is becoming a competitive advantage.
