Bradford Heat Network Expansion: £9m for Hospital, Schools, and Homes
thetelegraphandargus.co.ukBradford's clean heat network is getting a £9 million government boost to extend service to St Luke's Hospital, 255 homes, and seven schools and colleges. The network, powered by air source heat pumps at a plant on Thornton Road, already serves the university, college, courts, and city hall. The expansion aims to provide low-carbon heating and lower bills for more public buildings and residents. Separately, upgrades for existing heat networks in Bradford, Leeds, and York will replace leaky pipes, insulate pipework, and replace interface units. Social housing provider Incommunities receives £103,764 from the fund. The £75 million network, run by 1 Energy, has been developed with a mix of private investment and government grants. The project is one of five in England sharing over £78 million for low-carbon heat networks.
