Bracell Cuts Pulp Carbon Emissions Intensity 47% Since 2020, Pushes Toward 2030 Climate Targets in Brazil
manilatimes.netBracell, a Brazil-based dissolving pulp producer, says it cut carbon emissions intensity by 47% per ton of pulp between 2020 and 2025, reaching 0.257 tCO2e per air-dried ton across operations in Bahia, Sao Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul. The company is working toward a 75% reduction by 2030 under its Bracell 2030 strategy. A new cooking line at its Camaçari unit, which started operating in October 2025, helped lower steam demand during pulp production. Bracell also reports progress on carbon removals, with about 6 million tons of CO2 equivalent removed from 2020 through 2025, including 3.4 million tons in 2025 from planted forests and preserved native vegetation. Around 90% of energy used at its industrial unit comes from renewable sources. The company continues to monitor NOx, SOx, particulate matter and reduced sulfur compounds at Camaçari, and says results stay below legal emission limits.
