BP Remediation Management Services Company has selected Myno Carbon for a multi-year landfarming trial that uses enhanced liquid biochar to treat weathered petroleum hydrocarbons from an historic well blowout. The trial began in mid-2025 and is evaluating how biochar can adsorb contaminants while supporting microbes that break down oil in soil. Early results are described as promising, with the trial continuing to assess long-term performance. The technology stands out because Myno produces biochar at 900 to 950 degrees Celsius, creating more surface area and porosity than typical biochars made at 300 to 500 degrees. The liquid formulation also helps distribute the material more evenly through contaminated soil and works with existing remediation equipment. If the trial succeeds, it could offer faster cleanup timelines and improved soil health for thousands of acres of petroleum-impacted land across North America.
