Mayor Michelle Wu has released Boston's 2030 Climate Action Plan, which outlines a strategy to reduce community wide greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent by 2030 and reach carbon neutrality by 2050. The plan moves from theoretical vision to active implementation across buildings, transportation, and energy systems. Key initiatives include the expansion of heat pump installations, weatherization projects, and the enforcement of the Building Emissions Reduction and Disclosure Ordinance (BERDO). The city also aims to protect critical infrastructure from sea level rise and create approximately 67,000 green jobs annually through targeted workforce development.
