Bodenham Arboretum in Worcestershire installed 292 solar roof panels that generate 135,000 kWh annually, cutting CO2 emissions by 34 tons per year. The system, designed by Shrewsbury-based ESP Energy, connects to three-phase power via National Grid and includes a real-time display for visitors showing energy generation and grid export. Over 25 years, the project is expected to save the equivalent of 1 million km of car travel or 6,500 trees planted. Wyre Forest MP Mark Garnier cut the ribbon on June 12, with local schoolchildren learning about solar energy conversion. The arboretum's co-owner said the system reduces reliance on fossil fuel grid power and improves energy efficiency.
