Blue hydrogen, produced from natural gas combined with Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), provides a practical way to lower emissions in heavy industry and shipping where electrification is difficult. By capturing CO2 and storing it underground, this method allows countries with existing oil and gas infrastructure to reduce their carbon footprint more quickly. Oman is exploring this pathway to complement its green hydrogen goals. Using existing subsurface expertise and processing facilities, the country aims to build a bridge toward a fully renewable energy system while maintaining industrial output.
