Blue Carbon's oPod Aqua is an offshore desalination unit that produces fresh water using wave, solar, and wind energy. By operating independently of the electricity grid and land-based infrastructure, the system reduces the environmental footprint typically associated with coastal desalination plants. The technology uses passive fluidic logic to minimize moving parts and complex sensors, increasing durability in marine environments. Current prototypes are being tested in Tasmania, with future iterations aiming to scale production to 50,000 litres per day through wave-driven flow.
