Bli Bli Landfill Gas-to-Energy Project Reduces 55,000 Tonnes of Emissions
sunshinevalleygazette.com.auThe Sunshine Coast Council and LMS Energy have launched a new renewable energy facility at the Northern Waste Precinct in Bli Bli. The plant captures landfill biogas to power a one-megawatt engine, generating approximately 9,000 megawatt hours of electricity annually. This project focuses on methane destruction to lower greenhouse gas emissions by an estimated 55,000 tonnes per year. The initiative is funded by LMS Energy and generates carbon credits through the Australian Carbon Credit Unit Scheme.
