BioBTX and Rain Carbon have announced a collaboration to supply renewable aromatic products made from plastic waste. BioBTX will use its Integrated Catalytic Cracking Process at a new plant in Delfzijl, Netherlands, to produce around 10,000 tonnes per year of renewable aromatic oil by 2028. Rain Carbon will then process that oil into benzene, phthalic anhydride, and other derivatives for industrial use. The partnership aims to give chemical manufacturers a circular alternative to fossil-based aromatics without changing downstream applications. The initial capacity is small relative to global markets, so near-term price impact will be limited. But the project represents a step toward scaling recycled-content feedstocks for coatings, pharmaceuticals, and automotive sectors.
