A new Bio-CNG plant in Gujarat's Banaskantha district is processing 100 tonnes of cow dung daily to produce biomethane for vehicles. The project, a partnership between Banas Dairy, the National Dairy Development Board, and Suzuki Motor Corporation, provides a cheaper alternative to traditional natural gas. Beyond fuel, the facility generates revenue through phosphate-rich organic fertilizers and enriched slurry water. While capital costs are high and purification requires significant energy, the project supports India's goal of integrating 5% biomethane into its natural gas supply by 2030.
