Bhopal has deployed a solar-powered Algae Tree at Swami Vivekananda Park to combat urban air pollution. The system uses microalgae to absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, offering a compact alternative to traditional planting in dense city areas. Developers claim a single unit can remove 1.5 tonnes of CO2 annually, performing the carbon capture work of roughly 25 mature trees. The installation also targets particulate matter, aiming to reduce PM2.5 levels by up to 55 percent within a 15 meter radius.
