Bhopal Deploys India's First Algae Tree for Urban Carbon Capture

Bhopal has installed India's first algae tree, a photobioreactor designed to scrub carbon dioxide from city air. The system uses a 600 liter tank of microalgae to capture CO2 and release oxygen, claiming a higher efficiency rate than traditional urban planting. Developed by the Mushroom World Group, a single unit is estimated to absorb the carbon equivalent of 25 trees, potentially removing 1.5 tons of CO2 annually. The project aims to provide a scalable air purification solution for dense traffic areas and public parks.
